WilliamWalace : his biography

He was born in 1272, 733 years ago in Elderslie, Scotland. His father died in 1291 because English soldiers killed him.

Edward I took control of Scotland in 1296 and, in 1297, William Wallace started his resistance against the English. Wallace and his followers won the battle of Stirling in September 1297. They invaded England in the winter 1297-1298.

 Edward I returned to Scotland in 1298 with a huge army.

Wallace lost the battle of Falkirk in July 1298. He was in hiding from 1298 to 1305. The English captured him on August 3rd 1305.

His trial took place in London on August 23rd 1305. He was executed on August 24th.
