Project : Animals from English-speaking countries
Some information about the project you will work on in Anglais IDD :
1. STEP 1 : Select 5 animals
a. Open a new "Open Office" file. (traitement de texte)
write the address of the blog : http://cedranglais.over-blog.com
and the address of the dictionary : http://www.wordreference.com
copy and paste the green passage down below (list of things you must find abouit your animal)
b. Save your file as "animals+VOSINITIALES in Ma classe, animals from Australasia
c. Pick up in the red list below five animals from Australia and New Zealand. Copy and paste their names in your file (click to save your file again) 2. STEP 2 : 1 animal to be worked on a. Classify the five animals you selected from 1 for your favourite, to 5. b. When you are ready, ask the teacher what animal you will work on. c. Rename your folder in Animals from Australasia, with the name of your animal
3. UNDERSTAND THE INFORMATION YOU WANT TO GET a. Read the green sentences. Look for meanings in the dictionary if necessary 4. GET THE INFORMATION a. click on the first link in the blue list below, and get to a page corresponding to the animal you are working on. b. copy the paragraph about your animal and paste it in your file (at the very end) c. if there are photos or pictures of your animal on the page, put the mouse on the picture or photo, and right click on it, then select "save as" and save the picture or photo in your folder. 5.ORDER THE INFORMATION a. read the paragraph you pasted and the list of questions you need to answer, and try to find an answer for each question. b. copy and paste the coresponding sentences under the question 6. COMPLETE THE INFORMATION a. if you have not answered completely the questionnaire thanks to the first site, go and click on the other links and find the information you need. b. copy and paste it under the questions 7. CHECK YOUR INFORMATION a. read your completed questionnaire. Use the dictionary to check you understand everything. simplify the answers if necessary. b. check the pictures and photos you selected are in the folder and can be inserted in your file. If not, find pictures and photos and save them again. 8. GET YOUR FILE READY TO BE PRINTED a. Make the questions and answers into short paragraphs. b. Choose a font, a size and a colour that you like and use it for your paragraphs. c. Insert the photo(s) and picture(s) 9. PRINT YOUR FILE a. Ask the teacher to come and check your work b.Ask the teacher to copy your file and to print it. 10. GET YOUR POSTER READY a. write the name of your animal as a title in big coloured letters b. Cut down the paragraphs and paste them on the poster (choose positions that make the information pleasant and easy to read. c. Cut down the picture and photo(s) and paste them. Your poster is ready. Pin it up on the board. 11. SPEAK ABOUT YOUR ANIMAL With the help of your poster, explain about your animal to your friendsin class.
- a picture representing the animal with the different parts of its body. - a photo or two of the animal The following information - the country and region the animal lives in (you can join a map if you want). - its habitat (trees, burrow,…) - the size of the animal, its colour, and all the specific physical details - if it is nocturnal or diurnal - what it eats/ drinks - what it usually does during the day
- what the different names for this animal are (latin, babies, females and males…)
Extra information that can be interesting if you find information - how this animal adapts itself to the season (winter?)
- if this animal is dangerous
- what the animals’ predators are (what other animals represent a danger for this animal
- if this animal is in danger of becoming extinct, and is a protected animal
